Dr. Nichols specializes in developmental, neuropsychological, educational, and emotional testing of children ages 2 years and older. Dr. Nichols has received specialized training in the early assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities at Boston Children’s Hospital. She believes that the assessment process is a collaborative opportunity to better understand the strengths and unique needs of children and adolescents, and then to clearly communicate those needs to their families, educators, and service providers in their lives, while creating a clear plan for moving forward.
As a therapist, Dr. Nichols provides child and adolescent therapy using variety of implement evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, and interpersonal therapy. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma related stress, and comorbid autism spectrum disorder and emotional/behavioral disorders (anxiety/ depression/ ADHD). Dr. Nichols also provides parent behavior management training for young children.
Whether through testing or therapy, Dr. Nichols loves learning about the unique values and strengths each client their family bring to the table. She will join client’s family in creating meaningful goals and identifying strengths and resources within the client, their family, and the community to support growth.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. She is thrilled to be returning to Chantilly, where she grew up (Go Chargers!), and introducing her children to the many joys of living in the Northern Virginia area. Her interests include reading, theater, music, and baking.
